Anode compensator.Anode protection is designed to reduce and prevent the effects of galvanic corrosion on the hull of the vessel and its units.
When the vessel is stored onshore, the protective anodes are oxidized and the level of galvanic corrosion protection becomes very low.
Before launching the anodes should be cleaned with emery paper to remove any oxides.
It is recommended to replace the anode if it has decreased by more than 1/3 of its original size.
Aluminium anodes are designed for use in both salt and freshwater (apparently they are not consumed and the wear of such an anode should be determined by weighing.)
